Have faith

Standard

Over seventeen inches of sparkling snow

Blanketing the frozen earth

Protecting sleeping grass and plants

That will awaken within the next month

Spreading deep anchoring roots into soil

While reaching upwards toward the sun

Filling our world with beauty.

Have faith my friends

Spring is just around the corner.

Do you have a creative mind?

Standard

Yesterday my six year old granddaughter asked, “Grammy, are you cheering for the birds or the horses?”

Ah, the innocent minds of children-so creative, comical. What a joy to capture some of their personality. Some days outside influences cloud my thoughts, cramp my creative juices. When this happens, I turn away from the computer and stare through the patio door at God’s handiwork. A thick rolling white carpet hides everything except the calico cats’ paw prints scampering here and there, crisscrossing the mailman’s deep footprints. Footprints widened by the sun until they resembled Big Foot’s.

Hum, how would I react if Big Foot suddenly appeared? My mind’s gears shift into focus, creative juices flow. Time to let my fingers dance across the keyboard. Have a great day.

My Writers’ Group

Standard

We just dig out from one snowfall and another comes. Thankfully after a month off due to nasty weather and holidays our writers’ group met this week. What a fantastic time listening to their progress on short stories and novels. They are talented and have  much to offer with constructive criticism and praises–both so important on a writer’s journey. A special thanks to the core of Whitley County’s Writers Group: Peggy, Judy, and Ginger for all your input.

Time to Reflect

Standard

After the blizzard of 2014 dumped over 14 inches of snow in northeastern Indiana and closed our town down, I had lots of time to write, read, and reflect. A poem that spoke to me and describes how I fell is When I Say I Am A Christian by Carol Wimmer.  I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

WHEN I SAY, “I AM A CHRISTIAN”

When I say, “I am a Christian”

I’m not shouting, “I’ve been saved!”

I’m whispering, “I get lost sometimes

That’s why I chose this way”

When I say, “I am a Christian”

I don’t speak with human pride

I’m confessing that I stumble

Needing God to be my guide

When I say, “I am a Christian”

I’m not trying to be strong

I’m professing that I’m weak

And pray for strength to carry on

When I say, “I am a Christian”

I’m not bragging of success

I’m admitting that I’ve failed

And cannot ever pay the debt

When I say, “I am a Christian”

I don’t think I know it all

I submit to my confusion

Asking humbly to be taught

When I say, “I am a Christian”

I’m not claiming to be perfect

My flaws are all too visible

But God believes I’m worth it

When I say, “I am a Christian”

I still feel the sting of pain

I have my share of heartache,

Which is why I seek His name

When I say, “I am a Christian”

I do not wish to judge

I have no authority

I only know I’m loved

WELCOME WRITERS AND READERS

Standard

Welcome to writing for fulfillment where writing is therapy for a creative mind. With snow piling outside my window, come, curl up with a hot cup of tea, open a book and slip into another realm.

I’m polishing my first novel, Where Hope Lies, an inspirational mystery where a mother’s love exposes a web of greed that in turn fuels disaster and praying it will be accepted for publication, soon.

My second novel, (still in the rough stages) The Stump Jumper’s Daughter, a fictional historical mystery is set in the Pennsylvania hills during the 1940’s when a teen meets the spirit of an escaped slave girl traveling on the Underground Railroad.

Come travel with me on my writing journey.
